背景信息	The protein SOX5 is a transcription factor that is involved in the regulation of embryonic development and the determination of cell fate. As with other SOX family members multiple isoforms exist and expression is widespread from human testis to fetal brain. SOX5 has been shown to play roles in chondroblast function, oligodendrocyte differentiation and migration, as well as ensuring proper development of specific neuronal cell types. Defects in SOX5 are predicted to cause complex disease syndromes because of its many functions, however interestingly, recent research has linked mutations in the SOX5 with the cause of intellectual disability without any major physical anomalies. Similar to other SOX family members, SOX5 is localized to the nucleus and its expression is regulated via phosphorylation and protein degradation mechanisms. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-SOX5 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blots on SH-SY5Y cell extracts.
