背景信息	The protein Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase IB subunit beta or alternatively PAF acetylhydrolase 30 kDa subunit, or PAF-AH subunit beta (PAFAH subunit beta), and encoded by the human gene named PAFAH1B2/PAFAHB is the catalytic subunit of cytosolic PAF-AH 1B. PAFAH1B2 is the beta subunit and inactivates PAF by removing the acetyl group from the second position. PAF-AH is a phospholipase A2 enzyme produced by inflammatory cells and its function is to hydrolyze oxidized phospholipids in low density lipoproteins. PAF-AH is involved in the development of atherosclerosis so its conversion to an inactive form by PAFAH1B2 in complex is of clinical importance. Levels of active PAF-AH are clinically associated with increased risk of developing coronary heart disease and stroke. Also PAFAH1B2 is also a focus of aspirin therapy in the prevention of stroke because recent research demonstrates that PAFAH1B2 can hydrolyze and inactivate aspirin given as a treatment to prevent platelet aggregation and potential strokes. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-PAFAH1B2 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blots on human testis tissue extracts.
