背景信息	The protein LIN28 or alternatively named LIN28A, or Zinc-finger CCHC domain-containing protein 1 and encoded by the human gene named LIN28A/CSDD1/LIN28/ZCCHC1 is a developmental transcription factor important in many tissues, including skeletal muscle and neuronal development. LIN28 operates as a translational enhancer and increases the efficiency of protein synthesis for its target mRNAs. LIN28 binds IGF2, MYOD1 and ARBP/36B4 mRNAs and increases the number of initiation events per molecule. LIN28 also operates in ES cells and acts to help maintain the ES phenotype by suppressing the action of miRNA pre-let-7 via uridylation by TUT4 which it recruits. Downregulation of LIN28 in neural stem cells by miR-125 encourages pre-let-7 processing and brings about differentiation in NSCs. LIN28 can be found in the nucleus but it is mostly found in the cytoplasm; LIN28 is expressed in ES cells and many fetal tissues including testis and liver and muscle as well as in NSCs. Overexpression is seen in many tumors. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-LIN28 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on K562 extracts and in immunohistochemistry on human prostate cancer tissue.
