背景信息	Splicing factor 3B subunit 2 protein, or alternatively Pre-mRNA-splicing factor SF3b-145kDa subunit (SF3b145) or SF3b150 or spliceosome-associated protein 145 (SAP-145) encoded by the human gene named SF3B2/SAP145 is a critical component of splicing factor SF3b. SF3b is large multi-protein spliceosomal complex consisting of 7 proteins, SF3B2 being just one of them. SF3B2 is a highly hydrophilic protein with a proline-rich N-terminus and a glutamate-rich stretch in the C-terminus. SF3B2 associates with pre-mRNA upstream of the branch site at the anchoring site. SF3B2 also interacts directly with subunit 4 and 1 of the splicing factor 3b complex as well and other RNA metabolism related proteins too such as RBM7 and CDC5L. Interestingly, SF3B2 appears to be the molecular target for at least two viral proteins which help in viral progression by facilitating the export of viral transcripts. HIV-1 Vpr protein interacts with SF3B2 and prevents pre-mRNA splicing and spliceosome assembly of host messages; similarly ICP27 protein of Herpes virus IE63 also interacts with SF3B2 and inhibits pre-mRNA processing of normal cellular RNAs. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-SF3B2 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested western blot on HEK293 cell lysates and in paraffin immunohistochemistry on human colon cancer tissue sections.
