背景信息 Homeobox protein Hox-D10 (HOX-D10) is a nuclear, sequence-specific transcription factor belonging to the Abd-B homeobox family of master regulators containing a characteristic homeobox DNA-binding domain. HOX-D10 expression along the anterior-posterior axis of cells provides specific, positional identities for the purpose of developmental regulation. It may have a role in the phenotype maintenance or promotion in epithelial cells. Studies have shown sustained overexpression of HOX-D10 to inhibit angiogenesis and cell migration, suggesting a potential role in tumor suppression. High expression is observed within adult urogenital tract tissue and also in developing limb buds. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Wilm's tumor and congenital vertical talus (also known as 'rocker-bottom foot' deformity or congenital convex pes valgus) and/or a foot deformity resembling that seen in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. CVT is a dislocation of the talonavicular joint, with rigid dorsal dislocation of the navicular over the neck of the talus. This condition is usually associated with multiple other congenital deformities and only rarely is an isolated deformity.
