背景信息	The protein named Heat shock-related 70 kDa protein 2, also known as Heat shock 70 kDa protein 2, and encoded by the human gene named HSPA2 is heat shock protein that like other heat shock proteins acts as a molecular chaperone to stabilize preexisting proteins during formation and protect them from aggregation in the cytoplasm. HSPA2 is particularly important in chaperoning proteins associated with sperm, sperm-oocyte recognition and male meiosis. HAPA2 is a testis-specific member of the HSP70 family, and HAPA2 can be localized to the cytoplasm but also is associated with the nucleus and mitochondria depending upon the conditions. While largely testis-specific recent research has found HSPA2 to be expressed in somatic tissues. Moreover, when HSPA2 is expressed in these somatic tissues they are more resistant to several toxic events and anti-cancer drugs. Therefore, HSPA2 is now being examined as a potential target in cancer therapy. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-HSPA2 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blots on human ileum tissue extracts and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human testis tissue sections.
