It is closely related to Tks5 (gene symbol SH3PXD2A) and like Tks5, appears to play a role in the formation and function of podosome/invadopodia based on studies of Src-transformed fibroblasts (Buschman, 2009). Additionally, Tks4 may be involved in the recruitment of MT1-MMP and ECM degradation.

UniProt汇总 FUNCTION: Binds a range of phosphoinositides including phosphatidylinositol 3,5-biphosphate and, to a lesser extent, phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate, phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate and phosphatidylinositol 5-biphosphate. Plays a role in mitotic clonal expansion during the immediate early stage of adipocyte differentiation.

TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Highly expressed in the stromal-vascular fraction of white adipose tissue with moderate expression in heart, skeletal muscle and the mature adipocyte fraction of white adipose tissue. Expressed in adipocyte-differentiable cells but not in non-adipogenic cells.
DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expression increases quickly after induction of adipocyte differentiation, reaches a maximum after 3 hours and decreases by 12 hours.
DOMAIN: The PX domain is required for binding phosphoinositides and can also bind to the third SH3 domain.
