背景信息	Glutamate is a widely utilized excitatory neurotransmitter in mammalian brain. The ion channels activated by glutamate are typically divided into two classes. Those that are sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) are designated NMDA receptors (NMDAR) while those activated by kainate (KA) and -amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid (AMPA) are referred to as non-NMDA receptors. Two distinct genes encode the NMDA receptor subunits, NR1 and NR2. The NR1 subunit is expressed in abundance in virtually all regions of the brain.
