背景信息	Toll-like receptor 6 (TLR6) is a transmembrane protein that has been detected on plasmacytoid pre-dendritic cells, dermal microvessel endothelial cells, and CD11c+ dendritic cells. As a member of the toll-like receptor family, it contains multiple leucine rich repeats in the extracellular domain and a IL1 receptor motif in the cytoplasmic domain. TLR6 is a pattern-recognition receptor that recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) on microbial agents. It recognizes mycoplasmal macrophage-activating lipopeptide (MALP-2); soluble tuberculosis factor (STF); phenol-soluble modulin (PSM); and B. burgdorferi outer surface protein A lipoprotein (OspA-L). TLR6 interacts with the MYD88 adaptor protein to activate NF-kappa B signaling pathway leading to the secretion of cytokines and the induction of inflammatory responses.
