    背景信息 Homeobox (Hox) genes are found in clusters A, B, C, and D in four different chromosomes and are known to play a role in embryonic development. Among its family, the HOXA13 gene is reported to promote vasculogenesis, angiogenesis, and autopod bone and joint morphogenesis and differentiation in mice. It is also shown to regulate the gene expression of EphA6 and EphA7, both of which are involved in the growth and closure of external genitalia.

Expansion of a polyalanine tract in the encoded protein can cause hand-foot-uterus syndrome, also known as hand-foot-genital syndrome.
