    背景信息 The ubiqutin specific protease 18 (USP18; or UBP43) is a ubiquitin-specific protease that cleaves adducts of the ubiquitin-like modifier ISG15 from target substrates, and consequently regulates levels of the ISG15 protein. USP18 may be involved in multiple cellular processes including proliferation, inflammation, and stress responses. USP18 may also play an important role in innate immune responses to pathogenic organisms. Previous studies have reported that levels of ISG15-modified proteins increase after viral infection, and this is controlled by USP18. In addition, USP18 binds to type 1 INF receptors and inhibits their signaling by blocking their interaction with Jak2/STAT effector molecules, thereby downregulating INF signaling.
