    背景信息 CD79beta is restricted to the B-cell lineage, and is found in pro-B cells before Ig heavy-chain gene rearrangement but after CD79alpha expression. The antibody reacts with an epitope on the extracellular domain of CD79 (Yoshida, 1995). Anti-CD79beta, SN8, was included in the Fifth International Workshop and Conference on Human Leucocyte Differentiation Antigens, and studies by a number of laboratories confirmed its reactivity with CD79beta (Engel, 1995; Persin, 1995).

Surface Ig non-covalently associates with two other proteins, Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are necessary for expression and function of the B-cell antigen receptor. This gene encodes the Ig-beta protein of the B-cell antigen component. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.

    UniProt汇总 Required in cooperation with CD79A for initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) which leads to internalization of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes and antigen presentation. Enhances phosphorylation of CD79A, possibly by recruiting kinases which phosphorylate CD79A or by recruiting proteins which bind to CD79A and protect it from dephosphorylation. Defects in CD79B are a cause of hypogammaglobulinemia immunodeficiency and reduced B cells. Hypogammaglobulinemia is an immunologic deficiency state characterized by an extremely low level of generally all classes of gamma-globulin in the blood. The disorder results in a failure of B cell development in patients with immunodeficiency and is associated with a markedly reduced but not absent B cells.
