背景信息 Polycystin-1 is also known as Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease 1 protein (PKD1). Polycystin-1 is involved in renal tubulogenesis, adhesive protein-protein and protein-carbohydrate interactions and acts as a regulator of cilium length. Polycystin-1 may also be an ion-channel regulator. Defects in Polycystin-1 can cause of polycystic kidney disease 1 (PKD1). PKD1 is characterized by progressive formation and enlargement of cysts in both kidneys, typically leading to end-stage renal disease in adult life.
