背景信息	The protein called Regucalcin (RC) or gluconolactonase (GNL), or Senescence marker protein 30 (SMP-30) and encoded by the human gene RGN/SMP30 is calcium binding protein that is involved in the synthesis of vitamin C in non primates. In primates RGN is mostly involved in modulating calcium signaling and calcium dependent cellular processes and enzyme activities in many cell types. RGN also functions enzymatically as a lactonase, and RGN hydrolyzes various carbohydrate lactones. RGN is also implicated as an organophosphate hydrolase, with the ability to hydrolyze diisopropyl phosphofluoridate and other nerve agents. RGN was originally identified as an aging marker as well as a marker of cold stress. RGN is expressed in many cells but is particularly high in liver and kidney cytoplasm. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-RGN rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in on mouse liver extracts and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human kidney tissue sections.
