背景信息	Beta-arrestin-2 or Arrestin beta -2 encoded by the human gene ARRB2/ARB2/ARR2 is an intracellular regulator of G protein coupled receptors. Like its partner, Beta arresting 1, Beta-arrestin 2 (ARRB2) is a scaffold protein that acts to lessen the cellular responses to stimuli including hormones, neurotransmitters, and sensory inputs, conducted via the G-protein coupled receptors. Beta arrestin 2 can also act directly in intracellular signal transduction and stimulate tyrosine receptor coupled kinases as well. Beta-arrestin 2 (ARRB2) is expressed at high levels in the brain and plays a role in synaptic receptor regulation and 5-HT2A receptor signaling. ARRB2 is also expressed in other important tissues such as thyroid, kidney, pancreas and vascular tissues. Interesting ARRB2 also appears to be influential in the accumulation of A-beta peptide in Alzheimer’s disease, as overexpression leads to a buildup whereas silencing leads to a reduction. Also Beta-arrestin 2 (ARRB2) influences cellular development as well. Recent research demonstrated Beta-arrestin 2 (ARRB2) to be essential for adipocyte differentiation and in chronic myelogenous leukemia, loss of Beta-arrestin 2 (ARRB2) expression appears to be key to inhibiting the onset and development of the disease. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-ARRB2 rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on mouse retina lysates and in fluorescent immunohistochemistry on mouse retina tissue sections and in paraffin embedded immunohistochemistry on human spleen tissue sections.
