背景信息 Vitamin K epoxide reductase complex subunit 1 (VKORC1), also known as Vitamin K1 2,3-epoxide reductase subunit 1, is an enzyme that is involved in vitamin K metabolism. VKORC1 reduces vitamin K 2,3-epoxide into the activated vitamin K form that is critical for blood clotting through the carboxylation of glutamic acid residues in some blood-clotting proteins. VKORC1 defects can cause the deficiency of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors type 2 (VKCFD2) as well as resistance to the anti-coagulant, coumarin. VKORC1 is expressed at highest levels in fetal and adult liver, followed by fetal heart, kidney, and lung, adult heart, and pancreas.
