背景信息 RIF1 or more properly Telomere-associated protein RIF1 or Rap1-interacting factor 1 homolog is encoded by the human gene RIF1 and is a checkpoint/cell cycle protein that is required for checkpoint mediated arrest of the cell cycle in response to DNA damage during the S-phase of the cycle. RIF1 seems to play a critical role in both the ATM kinase and CHEK2 pathways that operate during S-phase but plays no apparent role in the checkpoints governing G1/S or G2/M cell cycle phases. RIF1 seems to act as a global regulator of replication timing. In mammalian cells, RIF1 appears to regulate the structures of replication timing domains through its ability to organize chromatin loop structures. Regulation of chromatin architecture by RIF1 may be linked to other chromosome transactions including recombination, repair, or transcription.
