背景信息 Sox5, a transcription factor, is involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of the cell fate. It interacts with various proteins to form complexes that regulate transcription. In conjunction with Sox6 and Sox9, it plays an important role in chondrogenesis. There is a about 97% sequence homology between mouse and human Sox5 protein. Sox5 binds specifically to the DNA sequence 5'-AACAAT-3' and activates transcription of COL2A1 and AGC. In neuronal tissue, it post-mitotically regulates the migration, postmigratory differentiation, and subcortical projections of subplate and deep-layer neurons.
