背景信息 The basic helix-loop-helix class of transcription factors consists of several families of eukaryotic transcriptional activators involved in
general, tissue specific, and developmental gene regulation including the ASH, HES, NeuroD, and Neurogenin families, among others. Family members are characterized by the possession of a structurally conserved DNA binding and dimerization motif referred to as the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH). The bHLH motif is composed of two distinct domains. The helix-loop-helix domain is composed of two amphipathic α-helices linked by amino acid sequences of variable length (the “loop”). For review see: Murre, C. and Baltimore, D. (1992). Lab. Press, p. 861-879. HeyL is a human gene which stands for Hairy/enhancer-of-split related with YRPW motif-like. HeyL is part of a group of basic helix-loop-helix (bhlh) proteins that are transcription factors. Diseases associated with this protein are cardiovascular disease.
