背景信息	With SmartFlare™ RNA Detection probes, you can detect RNA in LIVE CELLS with ease. With just an overnight incubation of CNP; Mouse, Cyanine 5, RNA Detection Probe you can detect the presence of CNP within your cells. Myelin CNPase (2',3'-cyclic nucleotide 3'- phosphodiesterase) is a unique enzyme that is present in cells that elaborate myelin in the central and peripheral nervous systems, i.e. oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells respectively. It is virtually undetectable in other cell types in the nervous system. The enzyme found in mammalian brain (with or without reducing agents) is primarily a mixed dimer of ~94 kDa. The dimer consists of a varied proportion of CNP1 (~46 kDa) and CNP2 (~48 kDa) subunits in various species. CNPase is expressed at high levels in oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells, suggesting a a vital role for this enzyme in the normal function of these cells. These cells are distinguished from most other cells by their ability to synthesize and maintain large amounts of myelin. It is suggested that this enzyme plays a role in the production and maintenance of myelin. Since the enzyme is a myelin-associated enzyme, it is of considerable interest in the study of diseases and disorders where myelin is affected in some way, including multiple sclerosis and subacute sclerosing panencephalitis.
