背景信息	Thromboxane A2 receptor (TXA2R/TXA2-R), or Prostanoid TP receptor and encoded by the gene named TBXA2R is a cell membrane receptor protein that is the receptor for thromboxane A2, a potent stimulator of platelet aggregation and vasoconstriction when released from platelets and other cell types during tissue trauma. TXA2R is a G-protein coupled receptor that is expressed in at least two isoforms in varying tissues. Platelets express high levels of the alpha isoform but not the beta isoform which is usually expressed in the endothelium. Tissue distribution of TXA2R is wide spread and can be found in cardiovascular, reproductive, immune, pulmonary and neurological tissue systems. The function of TXA2R, being associated with platelet aggregation, most of the early research focused on thrombosis and homeostasis, but more recent research is finding TXA2R involved in many cellular functions from immune response to neurological and nephrotic diseases. TXA2R is being studied as a clinical target for blood pressure as well as various other diseases including asthma, myocardial infarction, hypertension, and chronic inflammatory bowel disease. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-TXA2R rabbit monoclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on human platelet, fetal kidney, and fetal heart tissue lysates.
