描述 Anti-Orexin-B Antibody 背景信息 Several peptides associated with feeding behavior have been reported recently. Orexins (Orexin-A and Orexin-B) are a family of hypothalamic neuropeptides selectively expressed in the hypothalamus (Sakurai et al., 1998). Orexin-A and Orexin-B are derived from the same precursor (Prepro-orexin) by proteolytic cleavage. Prepro-orexin is an 130 aa peptide with a putative 33 aa secretory sequence, a hydrophobic core followed by residues with small polar side chains. The expression was detected in brain and to a small extent in testis (Sakurai et al., 1998; DeLecca et al., 1998). Cataplexy is a sudden loss of muscle tone triggered by emotions, which is the most valuable clinical feature used to diagnose narcolepsy. Human narcolepsy is associated with a deficient orexin system. Orexins are absent and/or greatly diminished in the brain and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of most narcoleptic patients. Human narcolepsy is primarily a sporadically occurring disorder but familial clustering has been observed.
