背景信息	Fatty acid-binding protein, heart, also known as Fatty acid-binding protein 3 or Heart-type fatty acid-binding protein (H-FABP) or Mammary-derived growth inhibitor (MDGI) or Muscle fatty acid-binding protein (M-FABP), and encoded by the gene names FABP3 or FABP11 or MDGI, play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters. FABPs are divided into at least three distinct types, namely the hepatic-, intestinal- and cardiac-type. They form 14-15 kDa proteins and are thought to participate in the uptake, intracellular metabolism and/or transport of long-chain fatty acids. They may also be responsible in the modulation of cell growth and proliferation. FABP3 functions to arrest growth of mammary epithelial cells. It is a candidate tumor suppressor for human breast cancer.
